Building the best home for you

Hello. I am John Wawrose. I started building homes myself in Houston in about 1980. I started this Brookstone Homes venture in 1987. I am one of the more experienced and more established homebuilders in Houston. I like to build homes inside the loop, and have built more than 200 homes in West University Place under one venture or another. The first time I applied for a building permit in West University, the water meter secretary exclaimed that it was only May and already 5 houses were to be started. "Last year, we only had three homes all year," she said. I also have built somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 homes in Bellaire, so far. I first met Dana Campbell in 1980. I have built more than 100 homes that were designed by Lucian Hood, back when he was still working. At this point in my career, I am not as prolific as I used to be. This year I will have about 14 move-ins.

I am very familiar with all the city requirements in my neighborhoods. I am also very familiar with the taste requirements of the buyers in these neighborhood. I try to give a home that has a good value today and will be an excellent investment for the future. I have watched houses I built years ago appreciate over the years. I think I have a pretty good handle on what is a good investment in terms of a home and what is not. I think for most people a home is the biggest investment they will make in a lifetime. I have watched many homeowners accumulate wealth and some even retire, simply by trading up on the homes over the years.

The homes I build are usually in the range of 3200 to 8000 square feet. I have built smaller and larger homes. I have also built several town homes at one time or the other. As far as experience goes, I have built shopping centers, apartments, and many restaurants, providing a well rounded construction background. I have worked with many interior decorators on expensive homes, having much knowledge rub off on me as to what is good taste.

I have some homes for sale, as you can find on "Homes for sale" page. I think I have reached the point where most of my customers know somebody I built a home for, before buying. I am getting most of my business "word of mouth". That is not very nice for those of you who don't know me, is it? Solving that problem is one goal of this web page. I try to build homes that are correct in architecture and value for the customer. I think it is important that the home retain value . The homes are of first class quality. I refuse to use the words "premier builder", "craftsmanship", and "attention to detail" in this description. You wouldn't be here if it didn't go without saying that you were expecting that.

I try to take the worry out of designing and building your home. I think it should be fun for the customer. On most custom homes that I do, I supervise the design process and provide the plans for the home. I do build homes where people have their own plans at the outset. I only build approximately 12 to 14 homes per year. The construction of every home is personally supervised by me.
